When Life Happens! I Didn't Plan for That!
I know there is a saying: "life happens to you while you are busy making plans". I have always made plans, and despite life happening, with work-arounds and other creative maneuvers - just made it all work. Staying nimble (both literally and figuratively) is not my strong suit.
In July I returned to the beloved MUSE where I spent 18 years before I retired in June 2013. 1 month to help them through a transition of personnel - morphed into 4. It was a great time and I loved being back, but certainly not in my plans.
I guess I never thought my parents would get old - I certainly didn't plan for that. My Dad had some health issues that required my going to St. Louis - I am glad I could make the trip, but really sent the October plans into a tailspin. The trip to Eastern Illinois University - my Alma Mater - was planned and what a gift to celebrate the 90th birthday of Catherine Smith - my piano professor for 6 years through my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. It is certainly my plan to be that active at 90!
The plan was to retire from St. John's UU Church with Catherine Roma in June 2015 - plenty of time to plan for that transition - but unexpectedly we are leaving in December - not what I planned for - not sure how I feel about that. This is the end of a 20-year collaboration and incredible journey. When I was practicing Beethoven in college and teaching "little fingers to play" - I had no idea the twist of fate would land me with this opportunity - glad I had the forethought to stay nimble and persevere - even though it wasn't in the plan.
CincyCAMS has peculated in my head for years and years - it is literally a dream come true. I am not giving up on it and I am ready to re-engage, re-energize and re-launch! The plan is to be ready at the start of the New Year! There are many of us who have plans to do things - start voice lessons, start piano lessons, start guitar lessons, meet up more with friends, read more, cook more - it's life - balancing the dreams with reality - the plans with life - it can be done!
Now, back to my plans....
